A tranquil, two-acre nature sanctuary, Gizella Kopsick Palm Arboretum offers a relaxing stroll while surrounded by palm trees. It is located at 605 11th Ave NE, St. Petersburg, FL 33701. This unique location was formerly a miniature golf course, but was converted to a botanical garden in 1976. The palm arboretum was named for Gizella Kopsick, who immigrated from AustriaHungary in the early 1880s. She became a chef for wealthy New York families and donated $16,000 to create a botanical garden. It was named after her and opened on her 100th birthday, and she was there to celebrate. She was presented with engraved bricks in the park to commemorate her accomplishment.
